ÚEK SMB – Territorial Energy Management Policy of the Statutory City of Brno
In September 2018, the Territorial Energy Management Policy of the Statutory City of Brno (ÚEK SMB) was approved, which sets the objectives and principles of energy management in the Statutory City of Brno. It is an indispensable basis for urban planning and it is very important in the concept of centralized heat supply, waste management and use of renewable energy sources.
The Territorial Energy Management Policy, which compared several possible options, was approved in the V2 RES variant (fuel development and conversion variant). This option is primarily aimed at developing the use of renewable energy sources and combined production of electricity and heat. The ÚEK SMB document is a policy document that does not precisely set the specific steps to be taken to achieve the objectives.
At present, the ÚEK SMB Action Plan is being prepared, which will compile individual activities of measures for the period of five years in order to ensure that the city’s energy management in the coming years is taking the most advantageous way for Brno. Its completion is expected in August 2019.
