ČSN ISO 50001 Energy Management System

The purpose of this International Standard is to enable organizations to create the systems and processes necessary to reduce energy performance, improve energy efficiency, use and energy consumption. The implementation of this standard is intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other related environmental impacts and reduce energy costs through systematic energy management.

This International Standard is applicable to all types and sizes of organizations. Deployment success depends on the commitment of all levels and functions of the organization, especially senior management.

The standard specifies the requirements for the energy management system (hereinafter referred to as “EnMS”) by which an organization can develop and implement energy policy, create targets, targets and action plans that take into account legal requirements and information related to significant energy use . EnMS enables organizations to meet policy commitments, implement the necessary energy efficiency measures, and demonstrate system compliance with the requirements of this International Standard. This standard covers activities that are under the control of the organization. The use of this standard may be modified to meet the specific requirements of the organization, such as system size, documentation level and resources.

This International Standard is based on an approach to continuous improvement through the “Plan – Do – Control – Act” (PDCA) concept and integrates energy management into the day – to – day business processes. In the context of energy management, the PDCA approach can look like this:

Plan: Review energy consumption and baseline, energy performance indicators, targets, targets and action plans necessary to deliver results that reduce energy performance in line with the organization’s energy policy

Do: implement energy management action plans,

Control: processes to monitor and measure key activities that determine energy performance relative to energy policy, goals and results reports

Act: implementing measures to continually reduce energy intensity and improve EnMS.

PDCA:

The worldwide use of this standard contributes to greater efficiency in the use of available energy sources, increased competitiveness and reduced greenhouse gas emissions and related environmental impacts. This International Standard is applicable to all types of energy.
